Gualala River

The Gualala River was famous for steelhead and coho salmon fishing through the 1950s and the inset photo is of then California Governor Earl Warren with two steelhead he kept for dinner. Today the Gualala River is choked with sediment from logging and now depleted of flow by expanding wineries. Take a slide tour to learn more or read a report on why winery expansion is incompatible with salmon and steelhead restoration. For more information also see Friends of Gualala River website or check out the KRIS Gualala website.
